Revisiting car dependency: A worldwide analysis of car travel in global metropolitan areas

This article aims to contribute the understanding of car dependency cities, a line inquiry which emerged in late 1980s. First, we update possibly outdated insights based on more recent data. Second, highlight methodological limitations this type research, will help determine relevance typical findings broader debate urban sustainability. For our analysis, base ourselves Mobility Cities Database includes properties form and mobility 56 metropolitan areas worldwide. Using OLS modelling, found that density, public transport supply demand, ownership, fuel price level congestion are important predictors use.
